What is the Revised Lead and Copper Rule?

The revised Lead and Copper Rule are updated EPA drinking water rules designed to help water systems find and reduce potential sources of lead. It sets limits for lead and copper in public drinking water and requires water providers to make a public inventory of service line materials so lead service lines, if any are found, can be identified and replaced.

What work is AWC doing to ensure our communities are safe?

AWC is reviewing, cataloging, and mapping water service lines in each community we serve. So far, we have not found any lead service lines. If we do find one, we will contact affected customers and explain the next steps.

What is a Service Line?

The service line is the underground pipe that connects your home to AWC’s water main.

As part of this effort, AWC reviews each service line to better understand what it is made of and place it into one of four material categories.
